2024-25 Special Olympics Bocce Registration

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOCCE

Athletes ages 8 and up for Traditional Singles, Doubles, and/or Team of 4 (athletes can choose 1 or 2 events in Traditional)

Unified Partners ages 14 and up for Unified Doubles and/or Unified Team of 4 (athletes w/Unified Partners can choose 1 or both Unified events)

*Athletes can only participate in either Traditional or Unified, not both. *Doubles partners/team members must commit to the entire season.

Zoom meeting: Monday, July 22nd at 7pm. Even if you are only interested in more information, I encourage you to attend. The link for the meeting will be sent later this week.

The roster will be limited to 32 Athletes/Unified Partners combined, on a first come first served basis. Bocce Athletes/Partners who competed in Regional 2024 are guaranteed their spot for the new season.

Practice: Wednesdays at the field behind District 54 Morris Elementary on DuPont Ave starting August 7th. Either 1 shift 5-6pm, or 2 shifts 4:30-5:30 & 5:30-6:30. Total enrollment will determine how many shifts of practice there will be. Athletes/Unified Partners are responsible for their own transportation to practices. SC Buses may be used for competition. All participants must wear comfortable athletic attire or sweatpants with gym shoes. NO JEANS/JEAN SHORTS, BOOTS, SCANDALS, ETC. ARE ALLOWED. NO JEWELRY EITHER. Medical bracelets are always allowed.

Cost: $20 for the entire season. *note-the Bocce season is split. Meaning, Regional competition happens in October 2024, then those Athletes/Partners who advance to State start practicing again in April to prepare for Summer Games 2025.

Medicals and Class A: Must be valid through October 12th. Those who need a new Medical must turn in to Tina by August 28th. Class A Registrations must also be completed by 8/28. Tina can look it up if you don't know when your Medical or Class A expires.

Competitions: Regional is Saturday, October 12th in Frankfort. State is Summer Games June 2025. I do not yet know which weekend, but is usually the 1st or 2nd weekend in June. I will have the exact dates of Summer Games by the end of September and will share that info then.

To register: Go to Specialconnections.org under events and you can pay online, call Tina at 815-230-1877, or respond to this email. After registering, I will contact you about what forms I'll need from you. REGISTRATION CLOSES JULY 31st! Forms and payment are due by the first practice on 8/7. You cannot practice until forms are turned in.
