About the event

Registration is now open to athletes ages 8 and up and Unified Partners to sign up for 9 Hole Unified, Individual Skills, or 3 or 6 Hole golf events. Those athletes returning from the 2019 season will be given preference to a spot on the roster as long as you respond by May 6th. All other athletes interested will go on a waiting list, and starting May 7th I will begin pulling from the waiting list so long as there are spots available. *Note: new athletes to golf must compete in Individual Skills their first year. The roster will be restricted to a total of 20 athletes/Unified Partners, and Special Connections will be covering the cost for this season.

NOTE: Special Connections will not be offering transportation to practices or competitions. Athletes and Unified Partners will need to arrange their own transportation.

9 Hole Unified and Individual Skills will practice every Thursday (weather permitting), starting May 13th, and 3 & 6 Hole will join the practices starting May 20th at The Creek (formerly Nettle Creek) at 5355 Saratoga Rd in Morris. Individual Skills practice shift will be 5:20-6:30, and 9 Hole Unified and 3 & 6 Hole golfers shift will be 6:20-7:30. The first 10 minutes of practice will be dedicated to the temperature and wellness check, stretches, and warm ups.

NOTE: 9-Hole Unified athletes/Partners and 3&6 Hole athletes with their caddies will be expected to practice on the course on their own time. Our group practices will be used to work on everyone's skills. This will be explained more during the zoom meeting.

Regional competitions are as follows:

9 Hole Unified TIME AND LOCATION TBD

Individual Skills on Wednesday, July 21st in Naperville

3 & 6 Hole on Monday, August 2nd in Bartlett

**These regional competitions are not qualifying competitions. Meaning, there will be no advancement from these regional events to a State competition. All State competitions have been cancelled through the end of 2021.

Special Olympics Medical Applications for 9-Hole Unified athletes are tentatively due by June 3rd. Unified Partners will need to have a current Class A registration completed by May 7th. Med Apps for Skills athletes are due by June 17th. Med Apps for 3 & 6 Hole athletes are due by June 24th. If I do not have the med app by those dates per event you choose, then you will not be able to compete. If you are not sure if you need a new med app, please let me know and I can look that up for you. Attached below is all the paperwork that may need to be filled out. There are new, additional forms that pertain to Covid through Special Connections and Special Olympics, and all necessary forms must be turned in before you can attend practice.

Michelle Sohol will be the Head Coach this year! We are also in need of Assistant Coaches. Complete knowledge of golf is not required. Please respond if you are interested in volunteering at practice and possibly at competitions, and I will get you set up to help.

Forms for this sport were sent out via email. Due to social distancing, please either email the completed forms back to me or contact me for an appointment at the Special Connections office or to meet somewhere for me to get the forms. If you would like to mail the forms (Special Connections PO Box 289 Morris, IL 60450), please do so by April 30th to ensure I get them in time. If you do not have the ability to print the forms at home, let me know your address and I will send you a packet by mail or drop them off to you. Registration closes May 6th. I would like to have all the paperwork by that date if at all possible.

There will be a zoom meeting on Thursday, April 29th at 7pm to go over details and answer any questions you might have.
