Special Olympics Snowshoe

Athletes,  ages 8 and up, interested in competing in Snowshoe, may sign up for  Special Olympics Snowshoe. We will have an informational meeting via  Zoom on Thursday, October 14th at 7:00PM. During the meeting we will go  over paperwork, practice/competition information, and rules/policies.  Even if you are only curious or need more information, I encourage you  to attend the meeting.  The roster will be capped at 12 athletes with  precedence given to athletes returning from the 2019-20 season.  Registration will close October 15th. As always, a waiting list will be  created for athletes new to this sport on a first come, first served  basis. Athletes on the waiting list will be transferred to the roster  starting October 16th, provided there are available spaces.

Practice  will be on Saturdays 10-11am at the fields behind Morris Elementary  School on Dupont Ave starting October 23rd. The regional competition  will be held on December 11th in Chicago, and state competition for  those who advance will be at Winter Games February 1-3 in Galena, IL.  Athletes competing in a relay must commit to the entire season. Special  Connections will cover the cost to participate. TRANSPORTATION TO PRACTICE AND COMPETITIONS ARE EACH ATHLETE'S RESPONSIBILITY. Special Connections buses are not in use.

Below  you'll find the lists of paperwork needed for returning athletes, new  athletes, and coaches. Completed paperwork is due by Tuesday, October  19th or you will not be able to attend practice. Your Medical Form must  be valid through February 4th, 2022. If you need one, it is due no later  than Monday, October 25th. I realize this is a short turnaround. If you  can't get in to see your doctor in time, then there was an email I sent  out this morning with a voucher to get a physical done at a  MinuteClinic in CVS at a discounted rate. LATE PAPERWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
