Special Olympics Softball Skills

Registration will close April 18th. The roster will be capped at 12 athletes, and will be on a first come first served basis. If more than 12 athletes register, then those athletes will be placed on a waiting list. I will begin pulling from the waiting list starting April 19th through May 30th if any of the first 12 drop off the roster for any reason.

Practice will take place on Monday evenings starting May 16th, 7-8pm at Lion's Park at 8865 McEvilly Rd, Minooka. Athletes participating in Athletics (Track & Field) who would like to try Softball Skills will be allowed to arrive to Softball Skills practice by 7:15 as they will be already warmed up from Athletics practice. Our regional competition will be on Sunday, August 7th in Joliet, and State competition for those who qualify will be September 10-11, 2022 in Springfield. Transportation to practices will be the athlete's or parent/guardian's responsibility. The SC buses may be used if needed for competitions. The fee for the entire season is $15. When you register, I will tell you what paperwork I need from you. That paperwork and the fee will be due by May 2nd. Medical forms must be valid through September 12, 2022. If you are not sure if you will need a new Medical, then I can look that up for you. Medicals are valid 3 years from the exam date. Medicals are due to me by June 20th or you will not be able to compete. LATE PAPERWORK CANNOT NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Volunteer Assistant Coaches will be needed at practice and competitions. Knowledge of softball skills is not required. I will let you know what paperwork I may need from you. A Special Olympics Class A registration is required and must be completed by June 20th. If you are not sure when your existing Class A expires, then I can look that up for you. Class A is valid 4 years from the date it was completed.
