Special Olympics Unified Bowling registration

SPECIAL OLYMPICS UNIFIED BOWLING

Athletes ages 8 and up, and Unified Partners ages 14 and up who are interested in competing in Unified Doubles or Unified Teams are invited to register. Unified Partners can be a family member, friend, coworker, high school student, etc. Unified Partners will need to complete a Class A registration with Special Olympics, which includes a background check for those 18 and older. More info on that below.

Zoom meeting: Monday, July 29th at 7PM. The link for the meeting will be sent via email later this week. EVERYONE SHOULD ATTEND!

Roster: Sectional session will be limited to 50 combined SO Athletes and Unified Partners on a first come, first served basis. There will not be a waiting list created for the Sectional session. (Sectional session limits are subject to change depending on how many Athletes advance from Regional)

Practice: Once a week on Tuesdays starting 8/13 at Echo Lanes in Morris. Arrive at 4:45 to get ready, and lanes turn on promptly at 5:00 with a 10-minute warmup. Tina will send out reminders on the Remind app. TRANSPORTATION TO PRACTICES IS EVERYONE'S OWN RESPONSIBILITY. Ride sharing can be worked out amongst yourselves. *New this year - if you regularly cannot make it to Tuesday practice, you can practice when you can each week  at another bowling center at your own expense. Which means you will not pay the fee to Tina. You MUST turn in a printout of your scores each time you bowl at another location. You should still be practicing with your doubles partner or team members even at another location.

Competitions: Sectional will be Sunday, October 13th at Addison. State will be Saturday, December 7th at Peoria.

Registration: Sectional registration will close on August 6th. Sectional paperwork and fees will be due no later than August 12th (unless other arrangements are made for payment). All Athletes/Unified Partners are expected to complete the season. I will need the paperwork before the first practice because I will not be able to check in paperwork while trying to get everyone set up to bowl. Anyone who has bowled in the past knows the first practice can be a little chaotic. I will communicate what paperwork I'll need as registrations come in. Cost: As of right now, the cost is $135 for 3-game bowlers, or $105 for 2-game ramp singles bowlers. (Subject to change, but will not go up) Please let me know if you need to make payments.

Medicals for Athletes & Class A for Coaches/Partners: Must be valid through December 7th, 2024. If you are not sure when yours expires, I can check that for you. If you need to renew, Sectional Athlete Medicals and Coach/Unified Partner Class A registrations are due by August 20th. New, first time Athlete Medicals or Unified Partner/Assistant Coach Class A registrations should be completed ASAP. I will email out directions to complete after you register.
